Day 2 Beijing

We flew in to the airport and I was so happy, I could not stand being on a plane any longer.  I was supposed to meet my driver at the airport but when I looked for him I could not find him.  He was supposed to be waiting for me with a sign with my name on it.  I waited for ten minutes at the Domestic Arrivals gate.  Then I decided that he might be looking for me at the International Arrivals gate since everyone else came directly to Beijing.  Sure enough I found him there with a sign that had most of my name on it.  He took me to the hotel.  On the drive over I noticed that the streets were all in very good condition and traffic was very light and not as hectic as I expected, but it was later at night.

When I got to the hotel and got checked in the tour guide called me and gave me her information in case I needed anything.  I was so tired that I was ready to crash.  When the porter came up with my bags we entered my room.  My roomate Norman was already asleep.  He made some noise when the porter and I stepped in the room and the porter tried to pull me out of the room!  He kept saying, “Sorry! Sorry!” yanking on my arm.  He thought we had gone into some one elses room.  I convinced him I was supposed to be there and directed him to the door.  I laid down and Norman had woken up in all the commotion.  We talked breifly and got to know each other a little bit.  I was very tired and quickly fell asleep.
