Beijing Imports is an equipment vendor located in Houston, Texas that is owned and operated by Shifu Nelson Chin. They specialize in kung fu weaponry and training equipment. They sell many of the harder to find weapons all of which are of great quality and reasonable pricing. The main focus seems to be on weapons used in Southern kung fu styles and in Hung Gar. Shifu Nelson Chin is a renown traditional kung fu master that is passionate about preserving the methods and training of traditional kung fu.
Product Quality
Most of the weapons and training equipment available through Beijing Imports are made in a traditional style. They do offer some of the more common competition wushu weapons, but it is limited. I have purchased a lot of weapons and equipment from Beijing Imports over the years and have always been happy with the products. Their uniforms are of high quality and very durable. Their white wax wood weapons are of exceptional quality especially their staves and spears. I also feel that the iron ring set offered by Beijing Imports is the best set I have ever owned and the most reasonably priced anywhere.
Website
Beijing Imports has a very simple website. The site has small pictures of the equipment and very limited descriptions. The site does not try to hard to sell you on things you may not need but presents their products in an easy to find manner. This makes it easy to get what you need quickly and without a lot of distractions as long as you already have an idea of what you are looking for.
Wholesale Accounts
They do not have wholesale ordering through their website, so all wholesale orders are mailed in. It is easy to request a wholesale account and Shifu Chin will send you a wholesale catalog and order forms. There is a minimum first time purchase, but it is very reasonable. The discounts are worth it if you are purchasing equipment for your school even if it is not as convenient as ordering through other vendor’s websites.
